Important: Workflows are integral to the proper functioning of your Zift PRM environment. Changes to workflows, in particular those provided as standard, can have unexpected effects and should only ever be undertaken on the advice of your Zift Solutions team.
Overview
Workflows are configurable sequences of automatic actions that are run based on conditional logic. There are two kinds of workflows: (basic) workflows and triggered workflows. Basic workflows are typically executed when a data-entry form is saved by a user. Triggered workflows are run whenever the triggering condition is met.
The benefits of workflows generally is that they automate a business process. Basic workflows are suited to managing approval communications, performing simple calculations, or updating other values on a record based on user input. For example, basic workflows are appropriate for shepherding new users through the on-boarding procedure. Triggered workflows can react to changes made through different pathways including CRM synchronizations or API calls.
The strategic value of workflows is to ensure consistency through defined processes. They allow you to extend the capabilities of Zift PRM to include your Organization-specific business processes.
