Overview
User Groups are sets of users that you define for specific purposes. Zift PRM includes many User Groups out-of-the-box. Each User Group reflects a particular kind of user and all of the Users in a User Group will share some characteristics. You can create any number of User Groups and there is no limit on the number of Users in a User Group nor the number of User Groups that a single User may belong to.
Zift PRM has three categories of User Group: Internal, Licensed, and External. Internal and Licenced User Groups have access to the Zift PRM Admin site and must be associated with Zift Solutions or your Admin company. External users only have access to the Portal, not the Zift PRM Admin site. This is desired behaviour. No Partner user should be granted access to your Zift PRM site. Most of the External user groups are visibility groups. These are used to selectively display content to users on the portal according to their Profiles. Please refer to Understanding Visibility for more information about controlling what content users can see.
Managing Users through User Groups is best practice. It ensures that you can efficiently and consistently apply and enforce security policies.
To manage User Groups, you will need to have adminTask Level 1 rights or greater and userTask Level 3 rights are the minimum required security rights to access this menu.
